Trisha had been an occupational therapist for 10 years, a certified hand therapist for 5 years, and was working at an outpatient PT/OT clinic, mostly seeing upper extremity injuries both conservatively and post-operatively. Maria was a physical therapist working at the same outpatient clinic, with a focus on orthopedic injuries. She earned her manual certification (CMT) but found that her advanced skills were not able to be utilized when having to treat multiple patients at the same time. They became fast friends, bonding over their love for their professions, running, and social activities. Both knew they wanted to change the way the Treasure Valley views what PT and OT can do for them. And thus, the ideas started flowing, and Fit & Function Therapy Solutions became a reality!
Why not take/bill insurance?
For many years, insurance companies have increasingly been dictating how therapists are able to treat their clients. Between low reimbursement rates and denials for certain pertinent practices, many therapy clinics have had to resort to seeing many clients at one time, and often having aides or assistants do much of the treatment as licensed PT or OT would have done in the past. Insurance companies don't see our clients as the individuals they are, instead they came up with "blanket" rules that have worn away at the professions of physical therapy and occupational therapy. Idaho is a direct access state, meaning no doctor's order is needed for physical therapy treatment, which makes access to professionals easier for clients. By not billing directly through insurance (though ask us how you can request out-of-network reimbursement), we are able to go back to our roots, focusing on individual clients, developing preventative programs, and better serving you without insurance dictating our practice. This also passes savings on to you!
